Origin of the name
Starmaker
Austin Currah (founder of the company) was working late on a Canadian winter evening, and his family decided to bring him a plate of dinner. While driving up to the job site, Austin’s wife pointed out Austin’s location through the vehicle window to their 2-year-old daughter, Ella. In the distance, Austin happened to be sanding (grinding) metal in the work yard as they drove closer. Ella saw the grinding sparks flying up into the evening sky and asked, “Does Daddy make stars?” After hearing this story, Austin changed the name of the company to Starmaker Welding.
